Sports fuel should taste good, feel like food and be something you actually want to eat.

Hi, I'm Florence, founder of REDSCUE.

As a former Spanish national track and field athlete, I know how difficult it can be to find sports fuel that works for you. After underfuelling, overtraining and tearing my Achilles, I wanted to create something different.

Gels made my stomach hurt. Some bars were dry, crumbly or too heavy. I wanted natural, carbohydrate-first fuel that tasted good, was easy to carry and felt like real food.

So I started making my own. That's how the REDSCUE bar was born: a soft, fudgy 70g energy bar made with cassava, plantain and other carefully selected ingredients, providing around 38g of carbohydrates.

Today, we're making sports fuel differently. Food-first, carb-first and made in Cornwall. Our mission is to make fuelling easier, more accessible and a whole lot tastier, while helping change the conversation around carbohydrates and underfuelling in sport.

REDSCUE = REDs × Rescue.

Fuel Without Fear

FAQs

From ingredients and nutrition to storage, flavours and when to fuel. Here's everything you need to know about REDSCUE bars and breakfast jars.

What is REDSCUE?
Food-first. Carb-first. Fuel Without Fear.

REDSCUE is a sports nutrition brand creating natural, carbohydrate-first fuel from ingredients including cassava, plantain and dates.

Our 70g bars provide around 38g of carbohydrates and are made for runners, cyclists, triathletes and anyone who wants a different kind of sports fuel.

REDSCUE takes its name from REDS × Rescue. It was born from my own experience of underfuelling and the impact it can have on sport and health.
What makes REDSCUE different?
We built it from the carbohydrate out.

Our bars are:
  • 70g each, with around 38g carbohydrates
  • Made with cassava and plantain
  • Food-first and carbohydrate-first
  • Soft, smooth and fudgy
  • Vegan and dairy-free
  • Caffeine-free
  • Made without oats or maltodextrin
  • Made without artificial sweeteners or emulsifiers
  • Designed to be easy to carry and eat on the move
  • Made in Cornwall

Real food. Real fuel. Made different.
How is REDSCUE different from conventional sports bars?
We take a different formulation approach, using cassava and plantain as the carbohydrate-rich base, alongside dates, nut butter, tahini, seeds and other selected ingredients.

Each bar provides around 38g of carbohydrates in a soft, fudgy format designed as an alternative to gels, chews and conventional bars.
Different ingredients. More carbohydrate diversity. A different way to fuel.
Why carbohydrate-first?
Carbohydrate is a key fuel source for training and racing. We wanted to build sports fuel around real, carbohydrate-rich foods rather than making protein the starting point.

Carbs for fuel. Food for nutrition.
Why is the bar 70g?
70g gives you a proper piece of fuel.

Each bar provides around 38g of carbohydrates, alongside key micronutrients from our carefully selected ingredients.

Big enough to feel like food. Small enough to carry.
Why cassava and plantain?
Cassava and plantain are naturally carbohydrate-rich root and fruit foods with long histories in traditional diets.

Cassava provides a starchy carbohydrate base, while plantain adds another whole-food carbohydrate source.

Using different carbohydrate sources creates carb diversity and fuelling flexibility.

Root + fruit + dates = the REDSCUE foundation.
What are the benefits of plant-based root carbs?
Root and fruit carbohydrates give you different food sources of carbohydrate rather than relying on one isolated ingredient.

Our ingredients bring together:
  • Carbohydrates to support training and energy demands
  • Key micronutrients athletes need
  • Greater variety from different plant-based food sources
  • Different carbohydrate sources to support fuelling flexibility

More carbohydrate diversity. More ways to fuel.
What's actually in a REDSCUE bar?

What are the breakfast jars?
Because why shouldn't breakfast fuel taste like cookie dough?

Created from my own experience of early race mornings, underfuelling and struggling to find convenient food I actually WANTED to eat, I wanted to make fuelling easier, more accessible and a whole lot tastier.

I wanted something that felt like a treat but was made with real, carbohydrate-rich ingredients. Something convenient to grab before an early training session, take to a race or enjoy on a busy morning.

Our breakfast jars bring together:

Cassava · Plantain · Sorghum · Dates

A combination of plant-based ingredients to create a delicious, carbohydrate-rich breakfast.
