What is RED-Scue?
RED-Scue is a carb-first, whole-food nutrition range designed to restore energy for athletes and active people who don’t eat enough to meet their training or life demands. Products include energy bars, mini bars, and fuelling jars that are easy to digest, nutrient-dense, and practical for busy lifestyles.
Why did you create RED-Scue?
RED-Scue was created to address chronic under-fuelling. Many athletes and active people struggle to get enough energy, leading to fatigue, poor recovery, and injuries. RED-Scue provides simple, practical, real-food fuelling without restrictive diets or ultra-processed bars.
Who is RED-Scue for?
RED-Scue is for anyone who:
- Trains hard but feels constantly tired
- Struggles to recover between sessions
- Has low appetite or finds fuelling overwhelming
- Wants consistent energy and performance support
- Needs consistent fuel without the overwhelm
- Needs a gut-friendly, filling snack without needing to buy 1000s of ingredients
It’s suitable for athletes, active people, students, parents, and coaches.
How is RED-Scue different from other bars?
Most nutrition focuses on:
- Ultra high protein (processed powders)
- Not gut friendly and use stimulants or additives (xantham gum, maltodexterin, etc)
- Ultra-processed
- Low-carb culture
RED-Scue is different because it contains:
- The first snacks specifically aimed at tackling underfuelling and overexertion
- The first to contain fufu, plantain, cassava, flour → slow-release carbs from African endurance traditions
- Gut-friendly → avoids digestive stress and common IBS/IBD triggers
- Micronutrient-rich → fills common nutrient gaps seen in under-fuelling (Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium, zinc, magnesium)
- Carb-first energy → restores glycogen and daily energy availability
- Whole foods only → no ultra-processed powders or artificial additives
Does RED-Scue offer subscriptions?
Yes, we do!
For RED-Scue, subscriptions are designed to make consistent fuelling easier and more affordable, and they typically include:
- Regular scheduled deliveries (so you don’t run out of fuel)
- Discounted pricing vs one-off purchases (e.g. subscribe & save offers)
- Flexible frequency options (commonly weekly, monthly, or similar cycles depending on the product)
- Pause or cancel flexibility (so you can adjust when needed after 3 deliveries)
Subscriptions are especially useful for athletes or active individuals who want consistent energy availability without gaps in nutrition.
What are the benefits of eating RED-Scue?
RED-Scue combines African carb sources + functional superfoods to deliver:
- Energy (carbs)
- Recovery (minerals + antioxidants)
- Absorption support (vitamin C)
- Bone & hormone support (vitamin D + calcium)
→ Helping correct low energy availability and key nutrient deficiencies
What GF flours do RED-Scue contain?
Cassava, Fufu & Plantain
- High in fast + sustained carbohydrates (quick & steady energy)
- Easy to digest and gut-friendly
- Naturally gluten-free
- Source of vitamin C & potassium
- Complex carbs support steady energy release
- High in fibre → digestive health & satiety
- Contains resistant starch → supports gut health & blood sugar control
- Rich in vitamins A, C, B6
- Supports muscle function & hydration (potassium)
- Helps prevent energy dips
Why focus on carbohydrates instead of protein or keto-style fuelling?
Because RED-S is an energy problem, not a protein problem.
Most active people already eat plenty of protein — many eat 30–50% more than recommended — yet still experience fatigue, injury, and burnout. You can’t fuel training, hormones, brain function, or recovery on protein alone.
Carbs are essential for energy, recovery, and performance. For 1+ hour sessions, 30-60g carbs are recommended, which is why our 100g bars contain 50g and 50g contain 25g. However, 95.8% of people are not taking in adequate carbs.
Many people under-fuel because they over-prioritize protein or follow low-carb trends. RED-Scue provides steady, accessible energy for muscles, brain, and overall wellbeing.
Is RED-Scue only for during exercise?
No — RED-Scue is for anytime you need energy: before, during, or after training, or on busy days when appetite is low.
How do you open the bars?
Simply peel the wrapper and enjoy. Mini bars are bite-sized for convenience and easy on-the-go fuelling.
Is RED-Scue a supplement?
No — RED-Scue is a whole-food product, not a pill or powder. It delivers real, nutrient-rich carbohydrates, healthy fats, and micronutrients for everyday energy.
How does RED-Scue fill common micronutrient gaps?
- Carbohydrates → low energy & fatigue
→ From cassava, fufu, plantain & jujube dates (fast + sustained natural energy) - Iron → tiredness & low performance
→ From moringa, cacao, sesame, seeds & wholefoods (supports oxygen transport & energy) - Vitamin C → immunity & iron absorption
→ From baobab & fruit blends (enhances iron uptake + recovery) - Calcium + Vitamin D → bone health
→ From moringa (calcium) + added/fortified vitamin D - Magnesium + Zinc → recovery & metabolism
→ From Brazil nuts, sesame, cacao & mixed seeds (supports muscle repair & metabolic function)
We’re open about our ingredients and committed to transparency, but we also want to protect the integrity of our recipe and the unique way it’s formulated.
What allergens are in RED-Scue?
Our bars are
- Free from Gluten (may contain traces)
- Dairy Free
- Vegan
- Caffeine free
- Peanut Free
They contain
- Almond, brazil nuts, sesame
- Made on site with other gluten products but do NOT contain gluten
Why is RED-Scue allergen friendly?
We recognise that many people dealing with underfuelling, high training stress, or RED-S/low energy availability often experience:
- Increased gut sensitivity
- Bloating or digestive discomfort
- Reduced tolerance to certain foods
- Higher overall physiological stress
So RED-Scue is designed to be:
- gentle on digestion
- easy to tolerate under stress
- supportive of energy replenishment without common irritants
Is RED-Scue backed by science?
RED-Scue is built around what the evidence shows about energy availability and carbohydrates, not diet trends.
Daily carbohydrate needs
- ~1 hour moderate training/day: 5–7 g/kg body weight/day or 30-60g for 1 hour+ of exercise
- Fewer than 5% of athletes meet carbohydrate requirements
- Low energy and carb availability — not training volume alone — drives RED-S and LEA
Yes — designed using:
- Research on energy availability, performance, and recovery
- Insights from endurance fuelling traditions
- Principles from TCM & Ayurveda for digestion and energy
How do I use RED-Scue?
Bars: Pre, during, or post-training; anytime energy is low
Mini bars: Bite-sized fuelling on-the-go
Fuelling jar: Straight from the jar, in yogurt, baked.
RED-S is caused by chronic underfuelling over time, so 1 RED-Scue bar won't solve everything; it must be taken consistently.
Take it in the morning, as a snack between sessions or during the workday. It can also be taken at night due to its magnesium content for good sleep.
